f365: Day 319

We are now in the storm season! The weather gods flicked the switch about a week or so ago and we're currently in the middle of the following daily pattern:

Morning: Sunny, warm
Midday: Sun, partly cloudy, hot and humid
Afternoon: Humidity increasing, cloud increasing
Evening or about the time I need to leave the office: Torrential rain, thunder
Late evening: Rain clearing

Yesterday mirrored this pattern exactly. Today I could see the clouds building up in the late afternoon which prompted this shot from our window at work. The storm never happened though and I had a clear bike ride home. So it was the storm that never was!

f365: Day 318

We've been getting into a routine lately of walking the dogs at 5.30am. Bruce scored big time a few days ago - Jenn bought him a massive bone (cue 'boner' jokes....).

It is about the size and length of a baseball bat and weighs about the same as well. He almost black eyed me on Sunday with it as dropped it on my face while I was taking some time out in the backyard (I was asleep at the time)...

I did a mini shoot of our beautiful lad Bruce enjoying his bone this morning. Check out the shots!

We have loads of baby clothes, either bought ourselves or kindly donated by others.

Even though they have not been road tested, Jenn decided to wash them all. Today's shot shows a rather heavily stacked drying rack with his clothes methodically placed.

Another nursery shot...! We picked up a second hand rocking chair for Jenn and baby to sit in during feeding time.

Jenn painted it, and refurbished the cushions. The low light and the fact I shot it with my Samsung meant the resultant image was quite grainy - this suited the black 'n white format well.

One of the perks about having a baby is all the positive feedback and comments we've had from friends, family, work mates etc.

We have been gifted enough baby clothes and other baby related presents to last him for a long time. Plus a special thanks to both sets of our parents and close relatives.

Jacquie (Jenn's sister, a.k.a. my sister-in-law) made this fantastic quilt (amongst many other things). Today's shot shows the patterns and colours of it, drapped over the cot. The toy beagle came from IKEA by the way.

f365: Day 314

For about the 8th or 9th consecutive weekend, we found ourselves at Bunnings (and IKEA), buying more stuff. The baby's room is now almost completely furnished.

We found ourselves doing IKEA assembly this afternoon plus I managed to do a bit of DIY plumbing and replace the old dodgy toilet drop valve (all working ok so far, fingers crossed!).

But after months of hot dry weather, a storm passed over late afternoon. While it didn't amount to much, a decent sized rainbow formed in the east and it made the subject of today's photo. Note that no Photoshopping was done to the original shot, apart from resizing (note the contrast between the dark storm clouds and the sunshine in the mid ground).

f365: Day 313

It hit hard today just how close I am to being a first time Dad (certainly leaving my run late at 41). We went to an all day parenting skills course at Wesley Hospital.

As well as being shown things about the birthing process, we were shown how to care for a newborn etc. There were around 10 other couples (all first time parents) there as well. Jenn, at 36 weeks today, was definitely the most advanced woman in terms of closeness to delivery date!

I reckon I have the nappies thing all sorted. There was plenty of scope for comedy as well (not that we made our jokes too audible....). On a more serious note, scary and exciting times just around the corner.
