Flower Power in Macro - May 2009
Jenn's brother Chris bought us these when he stayed with us last weekend. If anyone can name the species of flower, then it would be appreciated! Anyway, I hadn't done any close up macro shots for awhile, so it was a change taking these.

Woo-hoo - we are back on the propery market! April was a busy month for us moving in, plus we had our trip to Ayers Rock and Adelaide. I finally got around to taking a few interior shots of our apartment in Bellevue Hill, Sydney. Plus a couple from the balcony.

Circular Quay at Dusk - Sydney - May 2009
A few shots taken around Circular Quay on a warm Friday night in early May. We were on our way to Luna Park and I decided to exercise the shutter button for a few minutes.
The first three have been applied HDR processing (a series of shots all at the same aperture, but differing exposures - they are blended together to maximise the dynamic range).
The last is a panoramic covering the Harbour Bridge (left) all the way across to the CBD. Enjoy!

Adelaide & Central Australian Trip - April 2009
Jenn and I decided to take 10 days out around the Easter break and catch up with our friends Tim, Sherina and young Joshua. A new addition arrived in the last month, so it was delightful to see Jacob for the first time.
We did an enjoyable family portrait shoot with them which was fun. A few days later we headed to Ayers Rock for 5 days and took in some central Australian scenery and landscapes. I have always wanted to see the Outback and the Northern Territory and this trip is just the tip of the iceberg - watch this space!
In other news, I finally got my mitts on the new Canon EOS 5d Mkii which has an amazing 21.1MB spec - the RAW files come out at around 22MB each which is putting a strain on my laptop (and a huge thank you to Tim for taking the time to use his expertise to rebuild it while we were there).

Sydney Rock Pools Part III - Coogee Revisited, Sydney - March 2009
I didn't realise until after last week's shoot that Coogee had another rock pool - this one was further north of the two I went to last week.
I arrived about 30 mins before sunrise and was surprised to see 5 other photographers already present! I chatted to a few of them and shared some tips. Although the light was not perfect, it was another great start to the day. Enjoy the shots!

Sydney Rock Pools Part II - Coogee, Sydney - March 2009
I've surprised myself by getting up at 5.50am two consecutive Saturdays! My early start paid off as I witnessed some stunning early morning light and colours at two of Coogee's rock pools.
The smaller one, McIvor's Baths, was built in 1876 and is for women and children only so I didn't hang around for long. The larger one, Wylie's Baths, was established in 1907 by Henry Wylie who was a champion long-distance swimmer. It has an amazing proximity to the ocean and while I was there, water was constantly rushing into it.
The latter has a small fee for entry, but I skirted around the outside and took some slow shutter speed shots and caught the first rays of weekend sun. Enjoy the shots.
