Lake Moogerah Astro Shots - Jul20

This was the first time Jenn and Jonathan accompanied me to Lake Moogerah.

I've been here a few times over the last 3-4 years and it rarely disappoints.

It was exceptionally busy there last night but the night sky was excellent. Enjoy the shots from our afternoon/evening there.

Lake Moogerah - Jul18

Another trip out to Lake Moogerah for some more astro imaging. This spot is really hard to beat, primarily as it is not too far from Brisbane, and the views facing south have minimal light pollution.

This time we had a couple of added bonuses - firstly the sun set was excellent (potentially aided by a bush burn off which may have added colour to the sky) and secondly a boatie cast some excellent lighting into the scene which illuminated the mid ground.

I have also played around with the temperature and tint settings in Lightroom to create some interesting colours in the Milky Way.

Lake Moogerah - May18

It's that time of year again to photograph the Milky Way and the heavens from Lake Moogerah.

As stated the other day, we had less than ideal conditions last Sunday night with enough cloud cover to ensure my elusive panoramic of the Milky Way didn't happen.

I did create a few panoramics from the lakeshore and one directly above. Enjoy the shots and as always, click on each image to enlarge.

Lake Moogerah - Aug17

My work colleague David and I made another trip out to Lake Moogerah which is about a 1 hour 15 min drive from Brisbane.

The spot offers brilliant night sky observation due to the low light pollution. This time of the year is good due to the low humidity and positioning of the Milky Way. Having said that, it was too high to allow for any decent panoramics, but we played around with David's remote triggered flash gun and tried a few different style of shots.

Lake Moogerah - Jun17

I made another trip out to Lake Moogerah (with a work colleague) as it is the best time of the year to shoot the heavens.

Fortunately the high cloud that was threatening the shoot stayed clear and we were presented with near perfect conditions.

The location is brilliant and we found a couple of new spots we hadn't tried before.
