Commonwealth Games Marathons - Apr18

I got up very early this morning and did the one hour drive south to the Gold Coast to watch the marathon events.

It has been a warm and sunny day but I had a good spot near the start to snap the runners.

First up where the wheelchair participants including Australia's Kurt Fearnley (he won in the end). Then the women's marathon, followed by the men's marathon.

While I have not been to any other event, watching the marathons was pretty special.

Having said all this, I feel for the Scottish runner Callum Hawkins who got so close but his body gave way. Luckily (as I type) he is recovering ok and I wish him all the best for his future events.

Brisbane Sunrise - Captain Cook Bridge - Mar18

There are some excellent spots around the Captain Cook Bridge for sunrise shots over our beautiful city. After covering myself in bug spray (the mozzies are pretty tenacious around here) I set out with the camera, filters and tripod.

While not the best morning light (the sunrise was obscured by a layer of cloud on the horizon), I'm reasonably happy with these. Enjoy!

Home Leaf Macro Project - Feb18

I have a 100mm Canon macro lens which doesn't see much action, so I decided to collect a few leaves from the Botanic Gardens yesterday and take some close up shots of the detail on the leaves.

We also have a bit of a grasshopper infestation in our garden - I caught one of them and took a mug shot of it!

Anyway, enjoy the shots!
