Sculptures by the Sea (Gold Coast) - Sep17

We went to this last year and really enjoyed it so it prompted a return visit!

The sculptures by the sea (a.k.a. "Swell") is held at Currumbin on the Gold Coast. It is an excellent day out and hard to appreciate the work that has gone into some of the exhibits.

Below are some shots of the three of us and a selection of the artworks.

Lake Moogerah - Aug17

My work colleague David and I made another trip out to Lake Moogerah which is about a 1 hour 15 min drive from Brisbane.

The spot offers brilliant night sky observation due to the low light pollution. This time of the year is good due to the low humidity and positioning of the Milky Way. Having said that, it was too high to allow for any decent panoramics, but we played around with David's remote triggered flash gun and tried a few different style of shots.

Jenn's Mum's Birthday Trip - Jul17

The three of us went down to the Hunter Valley to celebrate Jenn's Mum June's 80th birthday last weekend.

It was a busy family affair with Jenn's siblings Chris and Jacquie also making it, along with their respective partners (Jacinta, Chris's wife plus Derek, Jacquie's husband and their son Stephen and his friend).

Apart from the family get together, another highlight of the trip was a day trip to Lake St Clair which turned out to provide some excellent evening astro imaging.

Chris and Jacinta were an excellent help - in some of the images they used a torch to paint in letters and effects. Enjoy the shots!

Wellington Point Sunrise Shoot - Jul17

I went back to Wellington Point which is on the bayside, or about a 35 min drive from our place.

I did some early morning shots here about a year ago, but had poor light so I returned only to get stunning colours and a beautiful sunrise (very lucky!).

There were a few other photographers here enjoying these near perfect conditions.

Enjoy the shots, and as always, click on each image to enlarge.

Lake Moogerah - Jun17

I made another trip out to Lake Moogerah (with a work colleague) as it is the best time of the year to shoot the heavens.

Fortunately the high cloud that was threatening the shoot stayed clear and we were presented with near perfect conditions.

The location is brilliant and we found a couple of new spots we hadn't tried before.

Enjoy the photos (and as always, click on each one to enlarge)!
