f365: Day 059

Following on from last night's rampage, the pups were more subdued this morning, possibly feeling guilty for their destructive journey through the place.

Here they are, both resting together after their breakfast.

f365: Day 058

Jenn and I went out for dinner tonight and left the two pups at home. Bruce was in the bathroom, secure in the sense he couldn't escape. Cookie had the run of the house.

Anyway, we got back this evening only to find he's escaped and they'd been on a bit of a rampage!

You may or may not have heard of "dog shaming" but he is a shot of our two hounds pretending they didn't run amok. The picture shows some of the carnage...

f365: Day 057

Coming home is always a lot of fun. I get kisses and greetings now from three members of the family - Jenn, Cookie and young Bruce.

Also the two pups love a run around the backyard. This shot captures their energy and franticness!

f365: Day 056

Mum and Dad left us this morning and I dropped them off early at the airport.

The heavens opened once again last night and we are in the middle of a deep low pressure system. It is very wet here and the media are touting as the Big Wet 2 (number 1 was the flooding around Australia Day).

A great day for ducks and panel beaters! Anyway, brollies were out in force - this is a shot from my floor at work with the brolly army assembled, ready for world domination...

f365: Day 055

The heavy rain that was forecast hasn't arrived yet (it is 3pm as I type) so we managed to get out and about this morning.

Northey St City Farm Market is a lively organic market situated in Windsor in Brisbane's northern suburbs. We love going there - lots of interesting stalls, vegetation and occasionally the odd chicken running around.

We met up with our friends Francesca, Sasha and their beagle Ciel. Mum and Dad enjoyed themselves. Today's shot is a group shot of us all.

f365: Day 054

Today was a busy day. Firstly I got up at 5am and went for a run around the river as part of the Canberra half training. Then Jenn and I took Mum and Dad up to Mount Tambourine which is a pretty little town just over one hour's drive from Brisbane.

Then tonight I took Dad to see a game at Suncorp Stadium - the QLD Reds played the NSW Warratahs. It was an excellent game with the Reds scoring an impressive try to seal the victory in the last 10 minutes.

Therefore I've posted a few photos today - one is a view from the Story Bridge of the CBD during my run, the other two at the rugby.

f365: Day 053

Mum, Dad, Jenn and I checked out a market in King George Sq after work tonight and had dinner afterwards. It was relaxing wandering around and even better, plenty of photographic opportunities.

Here is one I took.

f365: Day 052

This is what our mornings are like now with two hungry (read: greedy) hounds after a few nibbles before their breakfast.

It is also the only time of the day when they have your attention!

f365: Day 051

The sun finally returned today even if it will be short lived as the low pressure system is tracing back onshore as from tonight.

The soft evening light look soothing as I passed through Roma St station on my way home.

f365: Day 050

I'm completely over this weather right now - rain, rain and more rain. The climate across most of eastern Australia is basically "feast or famine". We've had months of hot, dry weather, now we've settled into a stubborn pattern of drizzle, grey skies, showers and rain. And it hangs around like a fart in an elevator.

So today's photo is simply a shot of the sky. Uniform grey. The Sunshine Coast is not living up to its name right now. Starting to think a sunny holiday is what I need!

f365: Day 049

It's been a crazy, busy and wet day today. However I scored myself a new phone! After 2 1/2 years with my IPhone, I've gone down the dark side and acquired a Samsung Galaxy III.

No particular reason for ditching the IPhone other than just wanting a change. So I've been trying to understand the new interface, setting up my contacts etc. It is pretty much all go now (my contacts have been transferred via my Google account).

I took a shot of Bruce tucking into his dinner as my first shot.

f365: Day 048

Mum and Dad are really enjoying spending time with our two dogs Cookie and Bruce (who is now 10 weeks old and 10 kgs!).

Dad was playing "tug" with Bruce this morning in our backyard and I snapped this one with my IPhone. While it wasn't a struggle for Dad, in a couple of months time I am sure it'd be a different story!

f365: Day 047

We had a busy day with Mum and Dad today Unfortunately Brisbane's excellent climate did not come to the party and it was dull and overcast much of the day with showery conditions (expected to last until Thursday!).

That didn't stop us though. After breakfast we went down to the West End market. We love this place - it is hectic on Saturdays and the selection of fresh produce is brilliant.

Shot taken looking down the main thoroughfare.

f365: Day 046

We had some playtime with the dogs this morning before work. I got this shot of Cookie looking up at me from our veranda!

f365: Day 045

Mum and Dad arrived in Brisbane early this morning and they are staying with us for just under two weeks.

I went for a walk at lunchtime today near the Breakfast Creek hotel. There was a nice steady breeze blowing so I snapped this shot near work looking towards Newstead Park. You can see the extend of the onshore breeze.

f365: Day 044

I was waiting for Jenn to pick me up from a rail station car park and realised I hadn't given too much thought to today's photo. Looking around the car park there are a lot of signs and markings on the road.

I played around a bit with my composition and the filters on Hipstamatic (IPhone app) and chose this one. I also like the textures in this. No theme in particular, just filling in some time until my ride arrived!

f365: Day 043

Bruce was being a right lazy boy this morning, flat out on top of our bed. Hmmm, it would be nice to swap places for the day - he can do my job and I can lounge around all day.

Well that might be asking too much considering he is only 10 weeks old!

f365: Day 042

Our Kogan digital radios have been a terrific purchase. We often play them both simultaneously which gives a sort of cheap man's surround sound throughout the house.

SBS Chill is often played and has been a calming influence on the dogs!

f365: Day 041

Tim and Sherina's boys love playing on my IPad! We had a few sessions playing Fruit Ninja. Joshua is pretty good and got close to challenging Jenn's high score.

I had a fantastic weekend in Adelaide - it seemed like I was there much longer but really enjoyed their company. I am now officially an "uncle" - in the sense of friend "uncle" to the two lads :-)

f365: Day 040

I'm in Adelaide at present visiting my friends Tim and Sherina (and their two boys Joshua and Jacob). It has been fantastic catching up and relaxing. While Sherina was at work today, Tim, myself and the boys went for a scenic walk. I am amazed at how much Jacob has shot up in the last 10-11 or so months since I was last up here.

Shot taken during our walk this morning.

f365: Day 039

I was at the airport tonight as am down in Adelaide with my friends Tim and Sherina and their two boys Joshua and Jacob.

I found a converted combi van near my departure gate which was my pic of the day.

f365: Day 038

Back to puppy house training and crating! I had to buy a copy of the Australian last night as we were short on newspaper to line his crated area. Considering it was a light weight paper yesterday, page for page, a very expensive wee mat!

Here is me setting things up for his evening nap.

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

f365: Day 037

We have a murraya hedge bordering our property which mitigates outside noise somewhat. It surprised us the other day as it came into flower!

I took this shot just after I came home of one section of it - you could almost be mistaken for thinking the impossible - snow in Brisbane in summer!

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

f365: Day 036

I had a couple of ideas for today's photo but forgot to take them, so looked around the house for other opportunities.

My friend James bought me this globe that sits on my desk - I like the colours and the mixed media appearance of it. Anyway, SE Asia and Australia are in full view on the globe.

f365: Day 035

Our current kitchen is pretty ugly so we are looking at putting a new one in this year.

Jenn has made some redundant space into a chalkboard though (above the sink) which is useful for shopping lists and general reminders. Whether we keep this in the new design or not remains to be seen.

High on the agenda at the moment is Bruce's feeding schedule and a mock up of the new kitchen design.

f365: Day 034

Today was an odd jobs day. We have been accumulating a lot of green waste underneath the house as went into a flurry of cutting, chopping and slashing our way through our backyard when we moved in back in November.

I've been struggling to clear the grass clippings, wood chips, branches etc - we do get a waste bin's worth of garbage that is collected weekly, but it is never enough to completely clear all the build up (as it is added every time I mow the lawns!).

Therefore I made three visits to the local tip today - it was extremely busy as many householders are cleaning up after ex tropical cyclone Oswald. So today's shot shows just a fraction of the green "mountain" at the tip today.

Oh and a shot of Bruce as well who is settling in fantastically!

f365: Day 033

Rules are made to be broken. In this case rather than taking one photo today, I have in fact taken over 20! The reason being is that we picked up Bruce, our bullmastiff puppy today!

Christine and Ashley (and a friend of theirs) have done a great job raising him so far, now he is in our hands. We arrived back with him this afternoon - initially Cookie and Bruce were testing each other a little, but are now best of mates and playful with each other.

Enjoy all the shots. As bullbastiffs grow very fast, we need to take a lot of him when he is this little!

(Below): First introductions - both were cautious!
